Mozambique Casinos

[ English ]

The general scarcity in the numbers of, Mozambique’s casinos is in one sense quite puzzling, in one way or another.

In years gone by, the area was a location where numerous South Africans would go to to flee from the considerably prohibitory rules on gaming (and, it has to be said, mixing with other races) that they had at home. For these reasons, you could think of something of an advancing spot to accommodate that tourist sector.

However, perhaps it isn’t particularly a bombshell. The nation is truly the most bankrupt on the globe, having gone through a horrific civil war (followed by crushing floods) from which it is still, very slowly, coming around. This may make a country much less of a tourist place, even though there is today a favorable view along some of the country’s outstanding beaches.

It is in addition legitimate that regionally at least, casinos in Mozambique have had to partake with many others in the freshly liberalized South Africa, including the well-known Sun City founded by the Kerzner family corporation.

Here is a list of Mozambique’s casinos:

Maputo: Polana Casino Hotel

There are 78 slot machines and also video poker games, five tables of American roulette, four blackjack tables, in addition one poker table.

Namaacha: Sol Libombos Hotel Casino

There are forty slot machines, American roulette, and two tables for poker and also punto banco.

It is thought that over time the total tourism industry in Mozambique will thrive greatly. While the local languages are, obviously, African, there is also the remnant of Portuguese from the old colonial power and the fresh and escalating introduction of English, both from South Africa and as part of the world phenomenon. The country is very cheap (evidently, as it is extremely poor) and as above, has some of the most outstanding beaches world wide, fronting onto the Indian Ocean. Those are the sorts of things that make tourism representatives drool, and as the country climbs out of its existent slump, it’s likely that not only will tourism expand, but that the list of Mozambique’s casinos will grow longer also.

While the country is skeptical to ever recapture its image as a focal point for partying South Africans, as there are now other selections closer to home for them to revel in, the development of a long distance tourism industry is being arranged. This would be to satisfy Europeans looking for winter sun, as a retreat from the dreariness of the Northern Hemisphere winter. Plus, evidently, the finest prawns (shrimp) on the planet derive from just offshore, in the Mozambique Channel.
